Essential Questions

- Why is it important to identify safety issues and to safely operate equipment utilized in the classroom? 
It is important so that you don't hurt yourself or others, and so that you don't break any expensive equipment that you are using.

- How do interpersonal and employability skills affect both your everyday life and future?
They affect your everyday life because it is your work ethic, and how much you try in your work. It'll all build up each day into something bigger. They are your basic skills that you use everyday. They affect your future because if you don't work hard everyday then your future could be affected. Your employability skills make you or break you when it comes to finding a job. 

- What is graphic design and why is it important to communicate visually?
Graphic design is the use of visuals to convey a message. It is important to communicate visually because it blocks out mostly all barriers (ex: language). It appeals to mostly everybody, anywhere in the world.


- What is a vector-based design and how is it created?
Points that are connected by a series of lines. They are created by using the pen tool and then you click where you want, you can drag to make a curve, and if you click from point to point it will make a line. If you hold down shift it will make a perfectly straight line.


- How does the manipulation of size and resolution effect digital images?
There are different resolutions that you must use when you are printing something rather then just looking at something on the computer. The greater the resolution at a greater size, the greater the quality of the image. 


- How is color used effectively in a graphic design?
Color is used effectively in graphic design because you can use color schemes and different composition of colors to be able to create different moods. The different colors can give the audience a feel for how you feel or it can make them feel a certain way about your design. Color schemes are schemes to use when you want all of the colors to go well together.


- What is a raster-based image and how is it created?
Raster based images are created by using a grid of pixels to define the image. Together all the pixels make an image and each pixel has its own color value. If you make pixels bigger it makes the image spread over a larger area, which would cause the image to lose details and make it not as good of a quality.



- What are the key developments in the history of visual communication? How did these developments shape our industry? 
They all formed a different way to commicate. There were different languages and forms of writing that were made. A bunch of different techniques were brought into play that graphic designers still use today. There are now a lot of ways that you can get across to an audience, thanks to the people in history who helped create all the different ideas.
